FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
A: Both! While in-person counseling is more common and can offer a great way to hold space, build rapport, and guarantee privacy, we know that sometimes online options are preferred or necessary and have opted for a hybrid approach at GCC. The platform we conduct telehealth sessions on is HIPPA-compliant and very user-friendly.

Q: Who do you work with?
A: We provide counseling for adults, teens, and couples who reside in Colorado. We vary in expertise and you can see more on our about page. We often work with clients struggling with anxiety/depression, ADHD, relationship problems, self-worth, life transitions, and more.

Q: What can I expect from therapy?
A: Once you have made a decision to see a therapist, you still might be apprehensive about the process. Many people feel nervous before their first appointment. Therapy is a shared journey; a shared process. And, although you and your therapist will travel together, it is ultimately your journey and you will make your own decisions. We do not have answers to all your concerns, but we do have the ability to listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions. Your answers to these questions will help shape the direction of our work. You can expect to be respected and challenged. You can expect that we will offer opinions and suggestions from time to time but will not tell you what to do.

Q: What happens during the first session?
A: The initial session is the time for you to start to share your story and for your therapist to get to know you. We can’t meet you where you are to help guide you if we don’t know what experiences brought you here. You can expect to share a bit about your history, mental health goals, relationships, and other important belief systems that help build your worldview. In the following session, you can expect to collaborate with your therapist on the appropriate individualized treatment plan that will guide your steps to reach your goals.

Q: How long do appointments last?
A: Appointments are 50 minutes. This is the standard length of a counseling session. If you are interested in a longer session (75 minutes) please contact us regarding availability and pricing.

Q: How often will we meet?
A:  To begin, we will meet once a week.  It is important to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly or progress can stall out. Once some or all of your goals are met, meeting less often will make sense until you feel you no longer need assistance.

Q: How much do you charge?
A: There are a variety of price points at GCC due to the experience and specialty of your provider. See about page for details on each provider. We also offer sliding scale options so accessibility does not have to be a barrier to entrance to getting mental health help.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: While we do not accept any insurance at GCC we do provide all the information you need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We will collect payment in full from you after the completion of your service. Many clients will qualify for partial or full reimbursement for mental health services. We will help walk you through this process.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We require 24 hours notice of cancellation or you will be charged for the appointment. If your session falls on a Monday it is required for you to cancel the Friday before.

Q: Where do I go when I get there?
A: There is a large free parking lot at our building with plenty of space. Once inside you will either walk up the stairs or take the elevator and go down the hall to STE 338. You can then take a seat in the waiting area and your therapist will come out and greet you to come back to your confidential and private space.
